Kim Delaney was an American actress. She is most famous because of her part as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC drama series NYPD Blue. For this she won an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her performances in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. As the sole daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney had a family of four brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney hoped to work as a reporter in the courtroom. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model for commercials and after moving New York. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of TV movies, film as well as dramas in the years since. Personally, her professional life hasn't been a success and has not been happy. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two failed marriages, and has struggled with addiction issues. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
